Translations
I’ve done a lot of professional translation work and a lot of fan translation stuff in my time. Here are some of the things I’ve worked on. It’s by no means a complete list, and it’s probably usually out of date. If you’ve ever run across any of this stuff before and enjoyed it, then my job was a success, hurray!
Professional Translations
Baki the Grappler
A very intense, violent, and famous fighting series. If you like fighting or martial arts, this is definitely worth checking out. It’s all based on real martial arts, with some added flair.
Basilisk
A series that mixes historical Japanese ninja stuff with really bizarre characters, ninja powers, a quick-paced and dark plot, adult situations, and love. In other words, it kicks ass.
Beck
An awesome series about making it in the music world. I was slated to do the translation for this, but wound up only doing the timing for the first 10 or so episodes.
Beyblade G-Revolution
For some reason, I was asked to do literal subtitles for several volumes of this kids show. Only two volumes were ever released. For grownups, it’s probably pretty fun to watch while inebriated Bonus pics!
Burst Angel
A kind of sci-fi, futurustic Japanese-style Western action series. Pretty awesome music. Also, boobs, boobs. boobs. Tons of DVD extras too!
Case Closed
An incredibly popular (well, in Japan) mystery series. If you like mystery stories, why don’t you have this yet??? The DVDs feature nice English dubs and my literal sub translations. Check this show out, it rocks.
Desert Punk
Guns, boobs, craziness, and perverted characters. The story starts slow, but by the end, this became one of my all-time favorites for many reasons. Lots of neat DVD extras too. Highly recommended.
Dragon Ball
This is when Goku is a kid, and it’s more lighthearted and adventure-like than Dragon Ball Z. This is an amazing series and takes me way, way back. You owe it to yourself to see this all the way through!
Fruits Basket
A quirky series about a girl who moves in with a family that can turn into animals. I only did a few of the DVD extras for a few volumes, a looooong time ago.
Gunslinger Girl
A “Social Welfare Agency” is created, but it actually secretly trains young girls to be assassins to take care of the government’s dirty work. It’s a very artfully done series, definitely worth a watch.
Gunslinger Girl 2
This continues where the first Gunslinger Girl leaves off, but was done by a completely different studio, staff, and voice actors. There’s a little more action this time around, and it’s as artful as ever.
Kodocha
I’m not even sure how to begin explaining this show. It’s fast and crazy. I only translated a few DVD extras for a couple volumes, though I can’t remember what numbers those volumes were. I’m old.
Lupin the 3rd
Lupin the 3rd is one of the most popular characters of all time, and it was an honor to be able to work on many of the movies and TV specials in the series. If you’re in the mood for something with action, mystery, espionage, and zaniness, Lupin is always there to oblige.
Mr. Stain
A series of stories about a guy who lives in an alley and some crazy cat. Each episode is about something new they find in the garbage, and it always leads to something crazy. I did all the extras for this.
Negima!
Negima is a popular series about a young magician from Wales who teaches school in Japan. All kinds of magical hijinx ensue, with occasional panty flashes and such, of course.
One Piece
One of the biggest manga and anime hits of all time. Just being able to work on this is an incredible honor. FUNimation took over after 4Kids destroyed the show, and it’s been doing great since!
Shin-chan
This probably doesn’t need any introduction I did the initial script translations and a ton of market-research stuff for the first run on Adult Swim. I don’t work on this anymore, but it was a ton of fun.
Speedgrapher
A “goddess” is able to give people odd powers, and this is how Tokyo winds up ever more dark and corrupt. An old war photographer accidentally gets a power too: everything he takes a picture of blows up. Kickass.
Spiral
A mystery and suspense series about so-called Blade Children and Hunters. The anime doesn’t go as far as the manga, but I still like this series anyway. It’s interesting.
Strain
One of my favorites, this involves semi-realistic futuristic space stuff. The coolest part is that many battles take place in sub-light speed, and time dilation takes a central role. Very highly recommended.
Tenchi Muyo! GXP
A side-series to the main Tenchi Muyo story. Tenchi’s relative Seina accidentally winds up joining the Galaxy Police. The GP uses his horrible luck (he attracts pirates) almost as a secret weapon.
Tenchi Muyo! OVA 3+1
This is the continuation of the main Tenchi Muyo! series, which is pretty famous, even outside of Japan. There isn’t much more to say, it’s got all your mainstay Tenchi stuff in it. I also did some extras.
Trinity Blood
A sci-fi series that revolves around vampires, advanced technology, the Vatican, Mars, and nanomachines.
Vexille
In 2067, Japan suddenly cuts itself off from the rest of the world. 10 years later, advanced Japanese cyborgs kill high-level foreign diplomats. Elite soldiers then infiltrate Japan to see WTF is up. I only did all the bazillion extras for this, I didn’t do the movie itself.
Witchblade
There isn’t too much to say about Witchblade, as it’s originally an American thing. You got your boobs. You got your “almost but not full” nudity. You got your action, drama, suspense. And some more boobs.
Bump’N'Jump
Mobile
I did this translation very quickly one day. I calculated it out, and I think I earned over $1000 an hour on this.
Of course, it only took a few minutes, but still, I like to mention it
Kingdom Hearts II
Playstation 2
I only did a few days of work on this through an agency, translating some design doc type stuff for who knows what reason. Still, it was a huge honor to be involved with it.
Nightmare Before Christmas
GameBoy Advance
I did the translation for this, but I didn’t even know what kind of game it was until later. It’s a Metroid / Castlevania-type thing. It’s decent.
One Piece: Unlimited Adventure
Wii
I did the majority of the translation here, and also had to fix a ton of things from an earlier translation. I had like 2 days to do it all, mostly without real context. Ouch. Still, a fond memory now!

Time Zone
Time Zone is a neat little platformer for the Famicom. It almost seems to have a blend of Mario, Mega Man, and EarthBound. It’s better than most crappy platformers from back then, so give it a try!
Tomato Adventure
Legend of Stafy
Far East of Eden Zero
A joint effort between me and master hacker byuu. The game is like a combination of Chrono Trigger and EarthBound, except it parodies Japan instead of America.

Doraemon
