After about 3 days of working on it, I finally sent an application/resume for a game translator/localizing guy to Square of Japan. Together with all the stuff they asked for I also sent three small samples of game translation stuff I've done plus the first 15 pages of my Ring translation, so in all it came to about a 40 page thing that I sent them.So wish me luck, I soooooooo want this job :)

Wow that sounds like a super-cool job. Are they currently hiring for that department, or are you just hoping for the best?

The position is open, they say they'll greatly welcome people with actual game translation experience, it's my hope all my experience will actually have an impression on them, even though translating ROMs isn't all that legal ;)EDIT: Gah, so many people with avatars, ranks, and badges. I definately wish you the best of luck Tomato. If you do get hired, I hope to someday play a Square game (maybe a Final Fantasy game) translated by you. From all your translation work in the past, I know that you'd do great doing it professionally.I do admit though, it is a bit of a gamble putting that ROM translation stuff in your resume, but if it gets you the job, then its definately worth it! 5 out of 4 people have trouble with fractions.

Oh, don't worry, I *always* throw in tiny references to stuff in almost everything I translate. Most of it is stuff that doesn't affect the meaning of stuff, so nobody would notice it unless they were specifically looking for my subtle references. For example, my Bahamut Lagoon translation has several EB references, my Ring translation has a phrase or two, one I can remember is "deep darkness", and other translations have stuff as well, Star Ocean has Luna and maybe somebody else I think too.

Interesting...hey, I'm not one to make you feel uncomfortable, but Tomato-old-buddy-old-pal,any room for a guy named "EvilJim Christo"? Whoa, that name sure sounds familiar...! Good luck, Tomato. I pray for you. Well, translating stuff at Square is the coolest thing ever! You'll get to WRITE dialogues, and we'll hate/love characters depending on how did you (re) arrange the text. Getting to be in it? I dunno, it'd be weird fighting an enemy named after our nicknames. Still, when I grow up I wanna translate stuff at HAL Labs. Kirby games, Super Smash Bros, MOTHER 3... *drools* Ah well. Soon you'll be at HAL too, I hope so! I'm an Earthbound Penguin! OK desu ka?

Tomato I wish you much luck and joy with this. You really would be a great addition to Square and you would really shake things up there. I recently applied for a small summer job. Right now there is a 75% chance of me getting it. Where is it? Working for a RPG company at their E3 booth this May. So I know how you must feel now. Oh the anticipation!!!!!Good luck Tomato. Did you send in the Tomato Shrine as a reference? I think your a major religion now in some small village in the Swiss Alps. ShadowX
